COZUMEL EXCURSIONS
Cozumel is the largest island in Mexico and only 45 minutes by ferry from Playa del Carmen.
Ideal to make a day trip on your own by car or scooter.
Cozumel became known many decades ago by the marine explorer Jacques Cousteau
who shot a lot of his underwater footage for his documentaries there.
All Caribbean cruise ships dock in Cozumel.
Not only the largest cruise ships in the world can be admired there
but also the largest multi-million dollar yachts of world famous personalities.
If you want to make a trip by car or scooter, you drive around the island on the route of about 40 km.
There's a tequila factory, the long-established Bob Marley Bar, Mirador Beach, Chen Rio Place and more.
It is also worth visiting the lighthouse and the associated museum
and to visit the reforested mangrove area that was destroyed by Hurricane Wilma in 2015.

Normally, visitors to Cozumel make the four-hour snorkeling trip first thing in the morning at 10 am,
after that you can either continue exploring or stay in the village for a cocktail
and visit e.g. the smallest Hardrock Café in the world at the international port of the cruise ships.
Not only for honeymooners it may be interesting to know that the fertility goddess Ix Chel lives there
and in her honor there are also small pyramids and other archaeological sights to see.
